WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
The main service of the Essence of Romance is to keep bookstores, libraries and readers up to date on your information. The Essence of Romance lists:
- Authors & all known Pseudonyms - If you would like your name kept confidential, please advise and we will use a confidentiality statement in place of your legal name.
- Titles - All titles published or under contract to be published. We do not list WIP's unless under contract.
- Series Name & Number - All series are listed regardless of how many series one title may belong to; this applies to all Series, Sequels and Trilogies, and includes Prequels.
- Publishers - All publishers who released the same title are listed, regardless of how many publishers released it.
- Publish Dates - All publish dates, regardless of how many times a title may be reprinted, are listed; these dates should be in mm/yy format. In the case of an E-book being released in print during the same month, the date will only be listed once with both formats listed next to the date. Otherwise, the print release is considered to be a "new" release and two separate release dates will be listed. If you do not have a release date yet, we will list it as "TBA" until you can provide us with a date.
- Publish Formats - All formats are listed: Hardback (HB), Trade Paperback (TP), Mass Market Paperback (PB), E-book (E). At this time, we do not list serial magazine stories but you can find links to several industry-related magazines and/or E-zines on our "Book Resources" links page.
- Anthologies - All anthologies are listed with the four-digit year of release as many Anthologies are titled the same.
- Genres - All genres are listed that a title might fall under, for example: Historical and Time Travel.
- Blurbs - We do not list excerpts, only blurbs.
- Cover Images - We currently show the latest cover available. We will soon be adding additional covers for those titles which have been reprinted using a different cover than the prior printing.
- Characters - Coming soon!
- Locale and Era - Coming soon!
- Reviews - Coming soon! We currently link several Review sites on our "Book Resources" page but will soon be adding direct links on the Title pages for that particular Title's review.
- Author Websites - Authors are linked on the internal side (members only) at the same time information is entered. Authors are also linked on the external side (all visitors can view these pages) under our Authors links pages. External links pages are updated weekly.
We offer other features that are user-oriented such as the ability to create unlimited book lists and are in the process of adding more user-friendly features, as well as more promotional features for Authors and Publishers. Watch the Home page for news of these and other features as they go live!
WHERE DO WE FIND OUR INFO?
Much of our information comes from various publisher and distributor catalogs. Once we have entered information, we will send you a temporary login for verification that everything is correct. Please add us to any newsletter, mailing list, or any other networking medium you maintain so we receive all updates and can keep our members updated on the latest information. We will update the Essence of Romance with news received directly from you. We do not depend on third party information unless it is directly from a publisher. We research every title sent to us for missing or incorrect info.
If you will give us permission in your introductory email to take what we need from your website, this will save a lot of time spent on back and forth emails as we will not take images, blurbs or other info from your website without your permission.
BOOKS OUT OF PRINT AND/OR NO LONGER AVAILABLE
The Essence of Romance lists Romance Authors and Titles going back to the early 1900's. Not only do we list titles that are available now, but ALL Romance titles, so even if your book is no longer available, it should be listed. This helps get your name out among the next generation of readers and helps to enlarge your fan base.
AUTHORS
Since the majority of our info comes directly from Publishers and Distributors, please contact us to make sure you are listed (especially self-published and newly-published Authors).
PUBLISHERS
If you maintain an electronic catalog and/or mailing list, please include us. We will update the Essence of Romance with the information received via your catalog and any news medium. As mentioned above, we will send you a temporary login so you can verify that all info is correct. To have your catalog information entered quickly, all electronic catalogs should be in xls, csv or txt format. Other formats are acceptable but take much more time to add. There is no limit to how many catalogs you can send or how many times you send updates. We appreciate all information received.
